About F3

F3 imageFoundations for the Future (F3) was established in 1995 to bring the expertise of Georgia Tech to bear on the role of technology in K-12 learning. With initial funding from the AT&T Foundation, efforts focused on preparing for E-rate funding of internet access in Georgia’s schools. The Georgia State Legislature began funding F3 in 1998. Since then, the F3 team has explored a variety of technology-related issues in K-12 education, including wireless access technologies, professional development for technology integration in the classroom, cybersafety, advanced networking and videoconferencing, and other emerging trends in technology-enabled learning such as Direct-to-Discovery (D2D).

F3 offers key services related to the acquisition and application of learning technologies:

  1. technical assistance
  2. professional development
  3. research proposal preparation and project collaboration
